To reduce its environmental footprint, Martechnic has revised the packaging material of its testing equipment to offer environmental-friendly and sustainable alternatives. Instead of plastic bags previously used for packing of the reagents and chemicals, Martechnic now uses biodegradable flat bags of sustainable polylactide (PLA) bioplastic for safe and leak-proof transport in compliance with the international environmental standards. The environmentally-friendly packaging material is of high quality, certified according to EN/DIN 13432 and TÜV sealed, transparent-milky and 50 mµ, compastible and it helps to reduce plastic waste and promote a sustainable future.

With due regard to its internal ESG’s policy in order to reduce its internal environmental footprint as a supplier company for the global maritime industry and beyond, Martechnic has revised the packaging material of its test kits to offer environmental-friendly and sustainable alternatives. Martechnic’s test kits are now offered with a recycled PE foam insert with a recycled content of at least 80% with very good restoring forces, excellent cushioning properties, excellent performance and protection of the test kit components. The polyethylene foam is not only light, but can be easily recycled countless times and reused while maintaining consistent quality.

We have successfully introduced a waste management program including considerable waste reduction actions and complete waste sorting and recycling (paper, plastic, glass, food composting and aluminium). Special hazardous waste incl. oily waste and batteries, lightbulbs and electronics is disposed separately in accordance with local regulations and specifications. Moreover, we encourage our employees to dispose privately owned used batteries, lightbulbs and electronics within the company’s waste management program to ensure their proper eco-friendly disposal.

We have substantially improved our company’s energy efficiency by revising our power consumption and minimizing it in order to decrease energy and maintenance costs. Our energy supplier provides green electricity from environmentally friendly and sustainable sources.
