Our Klickitat cleanup was a fantastic way for the Wet Planet team to give back to the river and our community. Starting with a dawn patrol, we stopped at several popular spots along the river that are frequently visited by many river enthusiasts throughout the season. In just one morning, we managed to clean up over 112 pounds of trash, including bottles, abandoned fishing nets, and bags of unpleasant waste. It was a tough job, but the sense of accomplishment was worth it. We’re excited to plan more cleanups in the future and continue making a positive impact on the river!

One of our 2024 season accomplishments has been building the weigh stations and initiating our waste-tracking process. This system allows us to weigh trash and recyclables every time they’re taken out, giving our staff a clearer picture of how much waste we’re generating and recycling. It has been an impactful process, helping us understand the direct effects of our waste habits and those of our guests. By tracking our waste season by season, we can measure our progress and make informed adjustments to reduce our overall waste footprint. Our goal is to continuously refine our practices and make meaningful changes each season to improve our sustainability efforts.
