2019 Became members of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and, in turn, the How2Recycle® program. Began formulating customer-centered sustainability strategies. Began work on advanced polymer platform for recyclable shrink films—an alternative to traditional shrink film technology. Developed a solution equivalent in performance to standard films with improved ease of recycling. 2020 Launched recyclable Clysar® EVO™ shrink films, prequalified for Store Drop-Off through the How2Recycle® program, meeting new, more stringent testing protocols for recycling. 2021 Invested in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) capabilities to help customers evaluate and compare packaging impacts. Participated in S-LoCT training to gain knowledge on how to measure, report and establish goals for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. 2022 Worked with our local energy provider and energy consultant on a Strategic Energy Management Program and formed an internal Clysar Green Team. Conducted an in-depth energy study and identified multiple key energy savings projects. Pioneered the next generation: Clysar® ULTRA LEG™ ultra-low shrink force film—a non-toxic PVC replacement with a lower carbon production footprint and prequalified for Store Drop-Off through the How2Recycle® program. Joined the Association of Plastic Recyclers, tapping information, advocacy and insights as we participate in the circular economy. Joined the Flexible Packaging Association, ensuring Clysar stays on top of any changing legislation and is involved in the promotion of “good plastics.” Launched first post-consumer content shrink film. Successfully integrated Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material into recyclable Clysar® EVO-C™ Confidential opaque film, which is produced with both pre- and post-consumer recycled content. Reduced internal waste streams and encouraged individual employee stewardship in recycling and conservation. Published Corporate Responsibility Report with first Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas reporting. Received certification for Clysar® ReClaim™ Pre-Consumer Resins through SCS Global Services; opening the door for alternative stream of certified recycled content. 2023 Achieved the GHS Scope 1 and 2 Badge from the Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition, signifying our completion of a Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas footprint that meets GHG Protocol and Science-Based Targets initiative standards. Developed educational curriculum on sustainable shrink packaging for distributors and customers. Joined Green Business Bureau (GBB) in order to further assist Clysar in our internal reduction of energy use and GHG emissions. We utilize the GBB platform to share our environmental initiatives with our customers, noting what we have accomplished as well as our goals for the future.
