Synterex is a woman-owned, disability-owned clinical and regulatory consulting firm committed to helping clients deliver important new therapies to patients in both an expedient and environmentally conscious manner. As a fully remote team, we strive to maximize the sustainability of the organization by improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and working to enhance the social and environmental wellbeing of our local communities.

Giving Back to Our Communities

Synterex has made outreach an integral part of our business operations by partnering with organizations doing good in the community. We aim to expand our partnerships to include environment-focused charities and non-profits. We are also organizing company-wide volunteering days to empower employees to give back to their communities through local environmental initiatives.

Reduce Waste

As a fully remote business, our “office building” is a conglomeration of dozens of employee home offices across the US. When Synterex employees make choices that reduce waste in their homes, this boosts the company’s overall sustainability. We will be implementing programs that reward employees for taking steps to reduce household waste such as recycling, composting, buying homewares secondhand, and replacing single-use plastics with reusable alternatives.

Minimize Our Digital Carbon Footprint

Although Synterex has drastically reduced our paper waste by adopting a fully virtual workspace, we are aware that every document has a carbon footprint. We are working to minimize our digital carbon footprint by assessing employee energy usage and modifying our digital habits to minimize energy-consuming data storage and processing.

First Community Green Initiative

Synterex has made a pledge to give back to our communities by participating in local green initiatives and service projects. For our first initiative, Synterex employees were given paid time to participate in a community environmental activity of their choosing. These events ranged from picking up litter to removing invasive plant species from local parks. Not only did it feel good to take greater responsibility for our local environment, but it was also a great opportunity to spend more time enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. We look forward to participating in more green initiatives in the coming years!

First Green Team Newsletter Distributed

As a fully remote business, Synterex recognizes the importance of ensuring that all employees have the information and resources they need to make greener choices in their own homes. To accomplish this goal, the Green Team established a monthly Green Newsletter to be distributed to all employees. The newsletters will help educate employees on steps they can take to reduce their carbon footprints and live more sustainably. The topic of our first newsletter was energy saving practices for the holiday season.

Formation of Synterex Green Team

In January 2022, a diverse group of Synterex employees representing all departments in the organization formed our first \'green team.\' The green team will lead our company\'s greening efforts and ensure we are making consistent progress toward our goals. The team meets bi-weekly to plan and implement new green initiatives and discuss ways to make our company more sustainable.
