The following is a list of Q2 Commitments:
Investigate the cost of recyclable office products (printer cartridges, recycled paper, etc,.) and compare with our existing costs.
Investigate the cost of sustainable packing/shipping materials and compare with our existing costs.
Conduct a baseline building water usage assessment.
Discontinue the purchase of single-use paper, styrofoam or plastic cups, plates, and utensils in the kitchen area. Use reusable mugs, dishes, and silverware instead.
Conduct a baseline building-wide energy usage assessment.
One of the modifications UDT made prior to moving in was the removal of all of the old fluorescent light and the installation of energy-saving LED lights throughout the entire 33,000 SF building. Compared to fluorescent bulbs, LED lights are up to 80% more efficient. Unlike fluorescent lights, LED lights convert 95% of their energy into light and only 5% is wasted as heat; this is all while still using far less power to provide a strong and consistent output at a lower wattage.
